Walnut Valley Baptist Church was established
on the first day of September 1939 with eleven charter members. The
church was housed in an old school building on Walnut Valley Road.
Reverend J.C. Melton served as pastor until March 1941.
On July 4, 1945, land was secured on Highway 7 North with a $25.00
deposit. An education building and handicap ramps were soon added. In
May 1966, two acres of land next to the church were purchased.
In early 1995, plans were made to build a new sanctuary due to the many
and costly repairs needed to the old building. On May 1, 1995, the old
church building was completely torn down and work began for the new
building. On October 22, 1995, the dedication service was held.
On January 7, 1998, Bro. Tim Forrest was called as full time pastor. The
parsonage was renovated and Bro. Tim, his wife, Karen and two daughters,
Blair and Maddison moved in.
Due to God’s wonderful blessings in church growth, we have since built
and added onto, an educational/kitchen/classrooms building behind the
sanctuary. Expansions on each side of the sanctuary have also been
added
New in 2007 - the Family Life Center will be completed! This
building contains a Community Youth Center allowing us to reach the
community youth and their families in a new area of ministry.
Sunday School classes and Wednesday Night Youth Services are being held
in there now. Events are in the planning stages. On March
16th, a Concert for Christ, YOUTH JAM was held in the Life Center. Pictures of
